E-MAIL DEBIT CARD SCAM

Bank of Deerfield was notified recently of a new e-mail based card scam by our processor SHAZAM. Consumers are notified in the e-mail that their Visa/Mastercard may have been compromised due to fraudulent activity. The e-mail has an official look to it and provides details regarding a commitment to fight fraud under a false client "case ID number”. The e-mail also directs the cardholder to verify their identity via the web in order to continue using online services.

We would like to remind clients that Bank of Deerfield, Mastercard or Visa will never request personal information, account details, or card information over the telephone or through e-mail. Promptly notify Bank of Deerfield, local law enforcement or the FBI at www.iC3.gov should you receive suspicious calls or e-mails.
